How do I get index.html and WP on same server?

  • Hi, I installed WP using Fantastico in the folder named “Public_HTML” on my server. Now I want to use an .html website and upload it to “public_html”.

    The problem is this. When I uploaded a file named index.html” to the “public_html” folder on the server and went to the URL the WordPress Theme was still showing up when the index.html file should have benn visible. Correct?

    Why is this?

    How can I not leave WP installed in “public_html” folder in case I wanted to have a blog on my website and still view my index.html homepage?

    Do I need to delete WP and all of the folders in “public_html” for my .html site to work?

    Confused as to what’s going on.
