When my site finishes indexing, I browse to a new admin page and the notice that my site needs indexing displays again. Why?

  • I’m having the same problem, notice won’t go away , same with update 14.0.4

Any if you using WPML by any chance?
Since I’m getting this only on sites that have WPML and the “Yoast SEO Multilingual” plugin installed…

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with the Yoast SEO plugin, and we’d be more than happy to investigate the matter further for you.

Can you please reset the indexables tables and migrations by using the Yoast Test Helper plugin?

Once you install and activate the relevant plugin, please go to the Tools → Yoast Test → Yoast SEO → Reset indexables tables & migrations options to reset it.

Did not resolve the issue I’m afraid. Reset the indexables tables & migrations like requested. Notice confirms completed. Browse to dashboard and the “Click here to speed your site up now” notice displays. Click to complete, it says completed. Browse to dashboard again and the notice comes back

For the WPML users, you can switch to each language clicking the index button, and that fixes the problem as well. (It happens because only the objects in the current language are indexed.)

@gleysen Thanks for sharing the tip with us. This will help others who are experiencing the same issue on a WPML based on multilingual website.

@mikeyhoward1977 Are you using any caching mechanism on your site? If yes, can you please clear the cache of your site to check whether this resolves the issue for you?

If the issue persists after clearing the cache, can you please confirm whether the following tables exist on your database?
    wp_yoast_indexable, wp_yoast_indexable_hierarchy, wp_yoast_migrations, wp_yoast_primary_term

If all the database tables exist on your site and the issue persists, can you please try running the indexables analysis by using the WP-CLI commands to see whether this works for you?
