    Hi,
I’ve been asked to enhance my site’s search capability to include the content of documents in the associated MDocs library.

Has anyone implemented this before and what are my options?
    Many thanks,
    Phil.

mdocs files do index in the default WordPress search, what exactly are you looking for.

Result in WordPress search will return on:

    1. filename
    2. name
    3. owner
    4. version

Sorry I should have emphasised: he really needs the content of the pdfs in the library to be included.
    Thanks,
    Phil.

Ok, thanks. I’ll give SearchWP a try and see how it goes.
    Cheers,
    Phil.

Just to round this off: SearchWP DOES index the content of pdfs stored within mDocs. The setup is a little obscure and the SearchWP documentation doesn’t make it very clear.

Once you’ve installed SearchWP plugin, go to Admin > Settings > SearchWP. > Add Post Type > Media
Set “Weight Transfer” to “transfer weight to parent”. This will ensure search results lead you to the familiar mDocs preview/description screen for the item.
    Add Attribute > Document Content
Set “Content” to 50% (or whatever works for you) for:
    Media > Document Content
    Memphis Document Posts > Content
    Pages > Content
    Posts > Content

If you have any plugin running that locks the database (e.g. “MergeBot“), you’ll need to de-activate it while SearchWP is indexing or they get into “deadlock“.

    Good luck!
    Phil.
