• Hi Mikko, thanks for responding to my Tweet last time. https://twitter.com/msaari/status/682058280299032580. My company is still using Relevanssi plugin. Thanks to your help on the forum, I was able to add hooks to let it index keywords that contain “-” in it. However, my company wants to index words that contain “space” in the keyword as well. I know this might be a complicated issue but is it possible at all? What would be the best approach to do it? Please email me or reply me on this forum if you need more information. Thank you.

Those keywords with space get indexed, however, they are not ranked at the top. I think Relevanssi splits those keywords into two instead of indexing them as a whole.

I managed it to index it by putting them in post controls saying something like “big, drums” then user can search for Big Drum and the product will show up at the top. However, is there an automated way to do it by using hooks?

That’s going to be complicated, yes, to put it mildly.

When you say keywords, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean tags? If you mean tags, I wonder if you could achieve the desired result simply by increasing the tag weight a lot.

    Hi Mikko,

Yeah, we list those tags as “keywords”, we have customised it.

Is there a way to index those customised tags with space?

There is, but if you’re not preserving the spaces in search terms as well, you’re having problems as well, and if you do preserve the spaces in search terms, you’re also going to have problems. So bit of a lose-lose here.

I’m not sure why you need to include the spaces. If you give lots of weight to tags, that should help a lot. If you increase the tag weight to 100, for example, the tag matches should rank high.

If you have “Big Drum” as a tag, then if someone searches for “big drum”, it will rank high, even if the space is not kept.
