index.php for theme

  • Newbie trying to do something clever and i’ve stuffed up the index.php
    When I try to get to my wordpress site it goes
    \ Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /home/str6923/public_html/wordp/index.php on line 1 \

    I tried chging to a new them and copying the index.php from there to the wp root directory, but no solution.
    Please help.

  • Uuuuuummmmmm….
    The theme header should be in a theme folder in the wp-content folder…. not in the root. The index.php that’s found in the root should be left alone… it’s what kicks off the process….

    Suggestion, re-get the original index.php that’s in the download and re-upload it to the root…. and mess with the theme’s index.php instead.
