We have a recurring formatting problem on our site — while the overall jobs list and previews of individual listings display properly, published job listings don’t. Instead, they appear just like any other blog post, and neither company information nor the “apply” button appear.

Here’s what an individual job post looks like when I preview it:

Here’s what that same job post looks like after publication:

So, how do I fix this? The support documents on template overrides and single posts aren’t helpful, as they focus on editing the plugin’s templates, rather than getting the plugin’s templates to work with my site’s theme.

In the alternative, what specific themes or families of themes are known to be compatible with the plugin? This jobs board is only a small part of a larger website for a nonprofit, so we’re not interested in the themes on the WP Job Manager site.

There’s tons of themes that are compatible (you can find them under addon section on wpjobmanager.com), but from my personal experience the guys at Astoundify are very active and have very well coded themes, Jobify and Listify.

With that said, you could also use just a standard theme like Twenty Twelve. The template override files are the way that you can customize the output to work with your theme, that’s why if you look at the contents of themes that are compatible with WPJM you will see they have almost every template override so they match the theme.

Are you sure you don’t have any template override files already? This includes any template files that would be related to the job_listing post type from core WordPress template hierarchy
