I use infinite scroll on my blog (https://alex.clst.org/dbd) and though I generally enjoy all the features of Jetpack have one annoyance with the infinite scroll module:

Say a visitor to the front page of my blog scrolls down to a earlier page of posts and then clicks on one of the posts to read it in detail and/or leave a comment. When they go back to the previous page that page is now the page they’d scrolled to, but not with an ability to scroll back to the top/front page of the blog. Is there a way, or is it a feature being worked on, to make the back button behavior when returning to a infinitely scrollable “page” load the top/main page and then scroll to the position they were previously at? Aside from this minor annoyance infinite scroll os a great addition to any blog that uses Jetpack.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you try to follow the instructions here to remove the page numbers from Infinite Scroll?

Once Infinite Scroll stops adding page numbers, hitting the back button should bring the user back to the home page.

Thanks, that fixed the issue of not returning to the home page. But I find that only about less than 1/3 of the time, when you go to posts on the first infinite load, that the browser returns the scroll position to where you were before going to the post’s page. So I’d still like it if you (or anyone else) had any ideas of how to get the site to automatically return the scroll posit to where the visitor was before loading a post. This is a low priority issue, what you already helped me fix was the big issue here, but one that I’d love to see working someday if possible.

I see what you mean. I took note of your feedback, and we’ll see if we can change that behaviour in a future Jetpack release.
