• Hi,

I just launched a site today at 00:00, about 24 hours later and it is indexed in Google. The domain was registered in the past month so is very new.

    See site here: https://www.thirskchurchestogether.co.uk/

Searching Google for “Thirsk Churches Together” the site is listed on the second page after a whole load of sites which are not targeting those keywords but happen to use those combination of words.

Will this sort itself out over the coming weeks as Google sees this error or do I need to do something?

  • thirskchurchestogether is not the same as Thirsk Churches Together.

Since there are about 28,700 results for that search your’re lucky to be on the second page. There is no error on Google’s part. You need lots of content and patience to move to the first page.

I did not find it even close to page two, in fact I did not find it…Remember, Google also serves search results to you based on your search history…The reason you found it on page two is you have visited it many times and several similar sites. kmessinger probably has visited several similar sites? I believe location matters also…Google gathers not just your IP, but your MAC address, OS and version, browser and version, readable cookies, etc…etc…etc…they use that to serve you relevant search (and of course ads)…

But yes, “You need lots of content and patience to move to the first page.” is very correct.

But, really, this is not a WP issue is it?
