Initial Lag Time

I’ve installed the plugin and have it set to automatically generate a map based on my location, with the option to search using an address. For some reason, there’s a 10+ second load time where the map doesn’t display at all. I noticed this same issue on the plugin demo site as well (https://locatewp.com).
Is there any way to determine what’s creating such a long load time, and possibly elminate some elements that are contributing to this load time?
I’ve tested on a localhost as well as a live server, using Chrome, Safari and Firefox – but it’s the same result.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with this?
