• Why does this plugin upload photos from my site to a third party site and display images from a third party site as part of its default functionality.?

    I have found no documentation warning your content will be sent to other sites and no warning content from other sites will be in your search results.

    A standard search on my site returns images with the following links :

    <img class="asl_image" loading="lazy" src="https://s.wordpress.com/mshots/v1/https%3A%2F%2Ftotalpackaging.co.nz%2Fproducts%2F48mm-x-66m-vinyl-tape-white-36-ctn%2F?w=70&amp;h=70">

    s.wordpress.com is not my site. Some of the images it returns are not from my site. This link shows my image now hosted on a third party site without my explicit permission.

    Hi,

    It’s the wordpress image site screenshot generator ?? Under the image options you have choosen the “Page screenshot” as one of the image sources. Make sure to turn it off and these will disappear.

    It does not upload anything though, the screenshot generator just generates the image, there are many other services like this on the internet (similar to the actual google pagespeed insights page). It does not require any warning or notification as it does not fetch any data nor send anything whatsoever, and therefore it does not require permission – it’s as if someone views your site, they don’t need permission either.

    All the best,
    Ernest
