Inline Error with Mailchimp

I am having trouble getting an inline error message with using the naked form action code provided by mailchimp. It opens a new page which obtains the error message. I watched Brandon Kraft’s video and it didnt go down like that suffice to say. I am also using an html5 theme if that is important. Please Help.
