Insane number of requests to site from Google crawlers

    After installing the plugin (Which works perfectly in all the other ways), the site becomes pretty much unavailable as Google sends it’s crawlers to every single product page in a very speedy matter.

    In a few hours I had over 4000 requests to my site from Google Bot. And it does not seem to stop after one visit to each product page. No, it continues to visit the pages, eating up all the server resources, and leaving no room for actual customers.

    I had to disable the plugin, and voila’! My site finally became available to paying customers again.

    Is this intentional? Is this something I just have to live with if I am going to advertise using shopping-ads or perfmax campaigns on google? ‘

    Do I really have to double the hosting costs, to be able to advertise on google, and hence serve google thousands of productpages each day?
