insert edited/update date

please explain where you would like to insert it and do you want to display it on all pages or just one page?

Good afternoon, thank you for your reply. I wish to add it to any page that I edit or add information to on my web site, so a reader / visitor will know it has been recently updated or changed.

Well there is this plugin for example:

But it may not be up to date.

If you would like to add it to all posts, this is the best way to do it:

Make a child theme for your twentyeleven theme
Copy single.php from twentyeleven theme to your child theme
Edit single.php
Use:

There are examples in that page that will show you what code to paste into single.php
