Insert Media Into Post – 404 Error – DirectNic Hosted

  • I have read every forum I can find and still cannot insert media using the “Insert into Post” button using wordpress 2.8. This applies to images, videos, music and even plugins like the Interactive Video plugin. I’ve tried changing the mod_security, file permissions, different browsers, different OS’s, everything I can think of and still no luck.

    I’ve seen 2 other forums that are unanswered as well and both are hosted on by DirectNic such as myself, so I’m assuming that might be the problem.

    If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I’ve tried everything else I’ve read.

  • Disable plugins, then try to insert.

    I disabled all (including everything from the interactive video player to the user photos) logged out, cleared cache, logged in and nothing.

    Been building sites since 1996, try to go the easy way this time and use WordPress and now the client can’t add video (I can manually but that doesn’t help me).

    Oh and I’m on a mac w/firefox (tried others too).

    Have you tried contacting your web host? Maybe they have a security setting that’s preventing it from working.

    Ok Directnic fixed my .htaccess from this…

    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off

    to this…

    SetEnv MODSEC_ENABLE=Off
    SetEnvIfNoCase Content-Type “^multipart/form-data;” “MODSEC_NOPOSTBUFFERING=Do not buffer file uploads”

    Now image/video/music upload no longer goes to a 404 page, now it just turns the window blank white. The plugin “Interactive Video Player” still returns a 404 error when adding into post.

    I’m gonna research that now.

    I have the same problem! And I don′t know what to do!
