insert not showing

I installed and activated the wp-insert plugin. I edited the Manage Insert Ads and attempted to post the insert in the left side of content. Can’t figure out how to make the ad show up only in posts at the top left and have the text wrap down and under the ad insert. Right now I can’t see the insert at all on my posts. I followed the instructions from your plugin website but still can’t figure out how to place the ad insert into the post. I did click it to hide for all the other types of placement.
