insert rows to a custom table

I have a form fields where I need to save all the values entered by the user to wordpress table.

My approach is I want to do the same with posmeta where all fields => meta_key and values=>meta_values.

The same thing whichever login user perform the operation will have the get_current_user() function assigned to the user_ID.

Is there any reference to work with.
