Insert (rss) image in footer

I inserted in my footer.php an image, but it’s only displayed when i’m on the index.

I used this code:
echo '<img src="wp-content/themes/default/images/rss-icon.gif" width="11" height="11">'; ?></a><a href="<?php bloginfo('rss2_url'); ?>">RSS</a>

Before I tried it with an simple <img> tag, but that didn’t worked as well..
