• The plugin works perfectly for showing and searching the entire books data base.
The sync with the zotero on my laptop works perfecly.
However, when using citation intext and bibliography the shortcodes show a spinning gear
instead and no information on citation is loaded. I tried inside and outside visual composer elements but it happens the same.
May you help me with this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hi Katie,

    thanl you for your reply.

The website is currently on maintenance, so i disabled the maintenance mode temporarily so you can check the following links:
    https://archtech.pt/livro-1 (bibliography and search in mode are working except the in text information, both citation and bibiography cited);
    https://archtech.pt/bibliografia (library mode is working).
Please, let me know when i may enable the maintenance mode again, to keep working on the website contents.

    Best regards,

    Hi Katie,

I just started using Zotpress and it is potentially just what I’ve been looking for. Amazing actually since I want to move my writing over to the web. However, i seem to have the spinning gears problem too, although it would be that I formatted the shortcode incorrectly …

    The page is here: https://ringmar.net/kingdancing/index.php/2017/09/29/guicciardini-francesco-history-of-italy-volume-1/

    Thanks for all your work.

@erikringmar2017 I’m seeing an error: jQuery(…).attr(…) On first look I’m not sure what could be causing it. Can you post or send me some example shortcodes?

    Hi Katie,

    This is the shortcode:

    ?[zotpressInText item=”{CKJDJZFA,4}”]

    Maybe it’s just wrong?

That looks right. We’ll need to troubleshoot. Is it possible to check your website with the WP Twenty Seventeen theme? If it still doesn’t work, could you disable the other plugins and see if it works?

Yes of course. Maybe it’s some sort of Gantry framework issue …

I changed to the twentyseventeen theme: https://ringmar.net/kingdancing/index.php/2017/09/29/guicciardini-francesco-history-of-italy-volume-1/ but still spinning cogwheels. I also deactivate all plugins except Zotpress, but that too didn’t change anything. Too bad …

thanks for your help, I really appreciate!

    Hi Katie,
Thank you for this amazing and great plugin! It works perfectly fine with the bibliography option, but in-text citations deliver still a spinning wheel. Any recommendations what to do?
    Thank you!

    Miriam

Hello. I’ve used Zotpress in the past, but only for bibliographies. I’ve just started trying the in-text citations in the last couple of weeks, but it’s not working at all. I get a gear icon (static, not spinning as described by others; not sure if that’s relevant). I’ve disabled all plugins and still get the same thing.

Any solutions so far? Thank you.

    Hey Katie

I have the same issue with the spinning wheel.

Do you think the following hint from another topic is worth the look?
“Http request rather than a Https request”
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/cant-cite-included-zotero-article-in-text/

Where in the code do you start these requests? I’ll guess it is within the jquery, right? But which file exactly within zotpress\js\?

Thanks in advance and big thanks for this plugin as well

All, have you placed a [zotpressInTextBib] shortcode below the in-text citations?

@immowille I’m not sure. I don’t see anything related to https in the in-text citation code specifically, so I think it’s something else. What, I’m not sure … I’d have to check case-by-case.

    Thanks for ure fast reply!

I just added the asked shortcode. In the editor it looks like this

    [..] werden kann.[zotpressInText item="{FPPG7684}"]

    [zotpressInTextBib]

    In medizinischen Ausbildungen [..]

Now it correctly shows (Author, year) where the InText should be.

The InTextBibItem comes correct as well at the end also when I use other InText citations!

Ok, that means I have to add the [zotpressInTextBib] in general!?

I cannot citate InText and the Link jumps to an overall citation page?

    Plugin Author Katie

    (@kseaborn)

Yes, you have to use it on the same page. It has to come after the in-text references as well. You could keep track of a list of item keys and make a regular shortcode on the other page.

Thank you for that. Didn’t know the additional code was required.

I am now wondering how to get just the number of the reference to show like a footnote or endnote. In addition to texts, I am citing a few online publications, which show up as “(, n.d.)” (minus the quotes), either with no formatting or with default formatting options.

Also, is there a way to edit the style of the bibliography so it doesn’t show the accessed date of websites?

    Thanks again.

@tourabsurd Please take a look through the In-Text Help page on your Zotpress installation for the details.

Unfortunately, Zotero handles how the citations are displayed, and taking out a date like that would require some tricky programming.
