• A strange or not so strange thing happened to me yesterday when adding a new install of wp to my server.

I added it and the cpanel i use has an older version ready to install which i then update in the dashboard once installed.

I then update everything and then go to plugins and usually there is just jetpack, askimet and a few cron plugins but now there was one called inSite but it is not a automattic plugin but have seen no news of this being in the new updates so is this legit or has a sneaky product placing taken place by my ip?

The plugin does look pretty cool and one i will definitely be playing with soon and look forward to creating my own website action recipes ??

Has anyone else noticed this or does anyone have any info about this being included in the update ?

Check with your hosts. Some hosting companies provide access to certain plugins for WordPress onboarding/training or other functionality and this might be one of them. Assuming the install was legit (by your hosts, yourself, or possibly if you’re using a premium theme) it looks like an above-board plugin. That being said, it is not a default plugin that comes with WordPress though. And if you’re remotely worried about how it showed up in your installation, you may want to do a security check of your site to make sure you haven’t been hacked.

    It’s a legitimate plugin: https://www.insite.io/

Probably added by your installer, or selected by mistake on the auto-installer.

Well when i install the wordpress script in my cpanel it used to have pre installed askimet, hello dolly and jetpack and the 2 cron plugins and this was the case for the last 2 years or so but the last 3 installs i have done it had in-site already there as well.

Im not complaining about the plugin because it’s a very good one that i now use for a few aspects i just wondered if it was standard wordpress script or was added by my host which looks like the latter
