    Wordfence is blocking the instagram API key – can you tell me how to unblock it in wordfence please.

    How do you know that Wordfence is blocking the API?

    Are you able to see these blocks in Tools > Life Traffic? If so, you might be able to click directly on the block and whitelist the action that is being blocked.

    If you disable Wordfence, is the API working then? In what way are you using the API?

    I submitted a ticket to smash balloon first and they said wordfence may be blocking the instagram api

    what is weird is if i disable wordfence it still doesn’t work but if i DELETE wordfence it works

    for now i have deleted wordfence so it is working right now – https://www.thecountrycook.net/instagram/ – it won’t work if i just deactivate it

    You could try to put the firewall into Learning Mode and see if it corrects the issue.

    From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the actions that were causing issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if these actions work correctly.

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

    Sometimes with API’s, they have IPs you can whitelist for the service to work flawlessly. I am having trouble locating any IPs for the Instagram API. Learning should resolve your issue though if you want to reinstall Wordfence and test.

    Hi,

    I have the same problem and I still haven’t found a solution.

    Using the learning mode does not change the situation, even desactivating the plugin. It is working only if I delete it.
