• I have several websites I am performing maintenance on and each time I update the Instagram feed plugin the tokens stop working. I just recently had all my clients generate new tokens and would prefer to not have them do so again so soon. I have had them manually generate the Tokens at the smash balloon token generation page, all personal accounts.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey colinreuss,

When you say that the tokens stop working, are you seeing an error message?

Also, I’m wondering if you’ve updated your access tokens to the new API. These tokens do not seem to expire unless there is a change to the Instagram account (like a password reset or app permission change). So once you update to the new API, this shouldn’t be a problem.

    Thanks,

    Craig

    Hey Craig,

The message I am seeing is:
Error: Instagram Feed plugin – account for ——— needs to be reconnected.
Due to recent Instagram platform changes some Instagram accounts will need to be reconnected in the plugin in order for them to continue updating.

This only occurs once I update the plugin and the same tokens are still working for a few other sites I have yet to update.

Is there a different process for creating the new API token then the one I mentioned earlier (sending client to smashballoon.com/instagram-feed/token/)?

    Thanks!

    Hey colinreuss,

Ahh yes this is an error everyone is seeing currently until they update the accounts.

The only other method would be to have each client click the big blue button while on the “Configure” tab inside of the plugin’s settings page (where you are seeing the connected accounts).

This should be the last time the tokens need to be updated for awhile (unless one of the things I mentioned occurs). Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Thanks,

    Craig
