I have solved this problem, but it shut me down for half a day.

When I activated GiveWP, I immediately received the following error throughout my WP dashboard: “You cannot publish without a featured image”

We finally deactivated givewp through the command line. I installed the plugin “default featured image” and tried again. The site immediately shut down as before.

Third try, in my dashboard, I went to settings/ req featured image, and unchecked the requirement for both pages and posts. Then I reinstalled and reactivated givewp, and now it seems to work. However, I imagine that other people will experience this bug, if they have “require featured image” set to true.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for reporting that, I’ll look into seeing if I can replicate that problem with that plugin and see if there’s a problem on our end or on that plugin’s end.

    Hi,

Following up. I tested this further and I found out that the “Require Feature Image” plugin is automatically enabled for posts and pages. It uses the transition_post_status hook to check if a post/page changes status to “publish”. Give triggers the error on activation because it automatically creates the required donation pages.
It’s going to trigger the same error with any plugin that creates pages automatically. I tested with WooCommerce as well and the same thing happened.
I would reach out to the plugin developers to let them know about the issue.

Glad to read the follow up. It’s obvious you guys really care about your product.

A thought: why not have a default feature image in the pages you build? It could be a simple white square, or even just a 1 pixel jpg.
