I pulled down the latest WordPress build, changed the mySQL database entries to match my new db on my domain (hosted by godaddy) and uploaded the WP files to my site.

When I open the readme and click the /wp-admin/install.php link, I get an error: “No input file specified”

That’s it; I can’t go any further. Any ideas? The godaddy support person said it is a problem with the WordPress software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Can you please provide a link to the misbehaving blog? (even though it is not installed yet?)

    Sure!

There she is. I have no idea what’s wrong. This step in the 5 minute install directions is a bit misleading:

    Upload everything.

Well yeah, but you have to upload it all to public_html

Not exactly intuitive, given it’s a bunch of PHP files, right? Oh well. Newbie I know.

Oh! I created a db, then I created a user. I assumed that was it. But then, YOU HAVE TO ADD THE USER YOU CREATE TO THE DATABASE! Woohoo! I feel like such a fool. Now I am going to use the Pool theme ?? I made a rhyme ??

    Thanks for the link!

No Input file specified. same problem here.
But what do you mean you have to upload it all to ‘public_html’ ???
is that a subfolder I need to create? is the index.php file supposed to go in there too?

    please respond as-mike

Have you followed the installation instructions exactly?

erm, kbyron123, how do you “ADD THE USER YOU CREATE TO THE DATABASE”? i think i have exactly the same problem, but i cant work out how to do it. am hosted by godaddy too…

    i contacted godaddy, who replied:
“Unfortunately, it is not possible to set up a second user name for a database. Each database can have one user name assigned to it, and only one user name.”
    any thoughts?
