Hi. (btw – I am using the Divi theme.) When I installed bbpress style pack and activated I received this error message:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home4/votaitco/public_html/hosted-dtcdance/DTCTest/wp-content/plugins/bbp-style-pack/includes/widgets.php on line 310

I deleted the plugin and tried again with the same results. Any ideas why this plug in is triggering a fatal error & how to repair so it will be accepted?

Or any other suggestion on another to help style bbpress without digging through alot of code (very much new to creating a site).

    Thank you for your assistance.

I can’t see why that would have created a fatal error.

Can you try deleting and reinstalling the plugin, and see if the error repeats

    Same here:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /var/sites/…/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbp-style-pack/includes/widgets.php on line 310

Using latest WP and bbpress and I’ve deleted and re-installed the plugin twice.

    Robin,
I deleted the plugin and installed again. Unfortunately I received the same results. The same error message popped up and the plugin could not be activated.

I found some “help” with coding online when I searched (alot of coding tips from you :-). Some of the css works when I put it in – I have my forums inline now and I have spaced out the lines, but some of them do not (like removing the counts – I just can not get it work).

I am hoping we can figure out why the plugin is responding this way. Any known conflicts with Divi or other plugins?

Before I try deactivating all my other plugins to see if there is a conflict – if I disable other plugins and am able to get bbp style pack activated – once I make the changes I want to bbpress – will I be able to deactivate bbp style pack and keep the changes I made? Or does bbp style pack have to be active to apply the changes?

ok, I’ve done some digging and I suspect I know what the issue is.

Do either of you know what php version you are using?

I don’t know what that is – can you explain how to figure that out and I will get that info?

5.2. at present. I have the option to upgrade to 5.6 but I’ve never done so as everything has worked well thus far.

I can move to 5.5 if you think it would help?

    Okay.. PHP 5.6 fixed it.

    Thanks

Damn!… this is awesome. This should be OOTB functionality in bbpress. I will be contributing to this support dude once I’ve had a proper play.

Please continue developing the forum display options and themes.

Great – that answered my question – I will amend my code to work with 5.2 as well in the next release.

And contributions help to explain to my long suffering wife why I tap away at a keyboard !

I’ll sort a fix for you tonight !

Robin – thank you for responding so quickly & following up.

I had to get a friend to figure the php out- could only upgraded to 5.4. It did install and activate properly – yea! Some of the changes are working and some are not – I am guessing it might have something to do with the color changes I had made to other pages of the site with CSS Hero. So I have completely removed CSS Hero to see if that allows the changes by bbpress style pack.

    I will keep you posted.

Great – thanks for coming back

I’ll mark this topic as resolved for the moment, but do come back if you need further help
