Install fine but first 4 steps stuck

I just installed the plugin and went to the settings page to begin setup. The dashboard page is stuck with the overlay of the four steps, but it will not allow me to click on any of them items to begin. I have tried deactivating and reactivating, even deleting the plugin and trying to install again. I get the same result.

What exact does the first backup button complete? Could it be stuck if my website was too large to complete the process?
