Install halts on Step 2

Hi,

I’ve posted another question on this forum about how my client’s WP installation suddenly broke after their host upgraded PHP & MySql. After getting nowhere with their host, I decided to back everything up and restart from scratch.

I’ve reuploaded all the files, wiped the old database, created the wp-config file and started the install script.

I get past step one, but all I get from step two is:

Second Step

Now we’re going to create the database tables and fill them with some default data.

And then nothing else, no errors or anything. The page says it’s fully loaded.

Any ideas? I’m under a bit of pressure to get this resolved…

This website was almost finished and for a client that was launching the site next week. Their host never advised that they were upgrading and all they can tell me is “Usually most of the time scripts break when bugs get fixed and the code that was designed to compensate for dodgy functions no longer works. The change log, available at https://www.php.net/ChangeLog-4.php, should help you troubleshoot the problem you are having since it appears that it only started with the upgrade.”

WP: 2.0.3
PHP: 4.4.2
MySQL: 4.1.20
