Install instructions are greek to me

  • Sorry for being a newbie! I’ve actually created several websites, but they were easy templates with layman terms with the hosting and the website at the same place.

    I am very confused even reading all your “Famous 5 Minute easy install” instructions. The terminology is greek to me!

    I have set up the domain and hosting with DreamHost… I have downloaded and extracted the www.ads-software.com stuff. Now it tells me to upload it to my server. I have no idea how to do that.

    Could you please provide me layman terms to do this instead of the FTP, MySQL, wp-config-sample.php, etc lingo that is wayyyy over my head?

    I sure would appreciate the help!

    No.

    And the reason why is because if you intend on using WordPress these are terms you need to get acquainted with.

    wp-config-sample.php: One of the files that is included inside the zip you downloaded. You edit it and rename it, following the instructions in the documentation.

    Lost of things are “greek” to people. Thats part of the learning process > making them NOT so greek.

    Fortunately, I found someone who answered my questions politely. Did you ever think that people learn when someone is nice enough to lead the way?

    This is a support forum, not a “touchy-feely-make you feel good all f over for not wanting to take the time to actually comprehend what it is you need to comprehend” forum. I provided links to that explain in very simple terms what you wanted.

    The fact is that there is a terminology associated with NOT just using WordPress but having a web site. You are either willing to digest and come to own those terms, or not. It’s entirely up to you, but I assure you — You WILL eventually stutter if you dont.
