    Hello,

When I install wordpress in the public_html directory the wp_admin.php page is messed up, no graphical, just in text format.

Also when trying to insert / upload media whilst to posts/pages, the uploader does not show. I just get a blank grey page.

If i install the wordpress into a folder public_html/wordpress/
there is no issue. How do I install in public_html without this happening?

    Thank You

Do you have any thing else in root that may be causing the problem

No the root is empty. This is really puzzling me.

    Thank you for your time

If wordpress works fine in a folder and not in public_html then there has to be some conflict in root and you say is empty have tried a fresh install in public_html

I have tried a fresh install.

I also have another account with the hosting company. The same problem occurred when installing there in the root also.

I installed the wordpress using Softaculous, if this may be helpful.

I also overwrote the hp_access file

You need try and install manually as may be Softaculous is doing something in install process

Upload wordpress using ftp in root
    create database
    Run yourdomainname/wp-admin/install.php

    Hello,

I followed your exact instructions, with the same issue.

Please visit https://cupcake-surprise.com/wp-login.php This is what I mean on the admin login.

The same issue has occurred where it is in text rather than graphic display. Also it will not allow upload / insert media via post or page editor.

    Thank you for your help

Do you have any other files and folders besides wordpress

    No, only wordpress files

[No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

Could it be that you do need a directory to install wordpress? if you tried to install it in public_html directory the URL for your installation would be https://www.com? instead of https://www.mydomain.com where mydomain isthe directory under public_html directory? I don’t know.

Since you having problem installing in root and you do not have problem installing in folder you can use wordpress from directory so that your website will open as if was installed in root.
    Follow instructions here

Sorry, my old host server was down the other day so I could not check. Today I managed to check then I realised that you would not be installing under public_html directory but under your own domain name i.e. https://www.mydomain.com. ( for cPanel ) which is the registered name of your account. Then it will be loaded under public_html directory… which is for the public to see. Use the fantastico script to install.
