I clicked to install the files, and they were installed in the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. To be extra cautious (and to follow the letter of the download instructions) I also downloaded them into the /wp-content/ directory manually. However, I still cannot use it as I have an error at the top of my admin screen: “There is a problem with the download script in your /wp-content/ directory. You may need to manually upload it.” For now I have deactivated the plugin, but this is definitely a plugin I’d like to use. What did I do wrong in my installation?

    Hi,

The only file you need to upload to your wp-content/ directory is the force-download.php file. Can you reactivate the plugin and link to a page that has a download link on it so I can help you further?

That is done, and I set it up on https://www.nationalanthems.info/abk.htm . The plugin seems to be working, but now there’s some other wonkiness:

    * The download link just links to https://www.nationalanthems.info/download/https://www.nationalanthems.info/abk.mp3 which obviously doesn’t exist. (https://www.nationalanthems.info/abk.mp3 is the address of the file I wish to have people download. If I just enter abk.mp3 between the [download] [/download] tags, the link comes out as https://www.nationalanthems.info/download/https://abk.mp3, which is still wrong.

    * There is still the message on the top of my dashboard that says “There is a problem with the download script in your /wp-content/ directory. You may need to manually upload it.” Considering I have the problem described above, I’m not surprised.

This plugin is only compatible with files uploaded via the media uploader. If you could upload that mp3 file through the media uploader, then copy and paste the full URL to that file, between the [download] tags, it should work correctly.

    Something like this:
    [download]https://www.nationalanthems.info/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/whatever.mp3[/download]
