• I’m pretty sure I have read all the posts regarding this subject,.. and the one that seemed it might lead to a solution is now labeled “[resolved] 3.0 Plugin Upgrade Bug? Could Not Create Directory” and I’m concerned if my post there will never get a reply,.. So I’m going to start a new thread.

    A little background: I started with a new install of WP3.0.1. (on servers I have many other WP sites running on without issue) Did an export of an old site, (from someone else’s servers, I think they are windows based servers?) imported to the new host, etc… From what I remember when I first did the transfer, I was originally able to do everything as normal, posts, upload images, etc. Then I started adding plugins and ran into this error;

    “Could not create directory. /httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/…”

    I have never had this error with any of the other WP sites on the same servers. I believe I’ve tried everything suggested so far, except waiting on server administrator to change our PHP upload limit. I’m hoping either that is the solution or there is something else I may have missed.

    Thx in advance, Steve

    Ps. Just for testing purposes, I tried installing a theme through the dashboard, same error.

    Update: It seems we have solved the problem. I modified the ownership of the uploads directory to apache:apache.

    Since you’re using a web interface to upload and work with the file system, the web interface runs as the apache user, not your ftp user.
