Install to my main domain

You have to change Site URL from phpmyAdmin. Check this Topic.

This looks like quite a procedure? Or am I missing something.
It talks of changing database files.
At present its just tagged onto my site so its: https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk/wp

I want it to be the main site. Is it as complex as it seems? If so I could just start again from scratch and rebuild it…..

I haven’t managed to resolve my issue.
Just to confirm what I have done:
1. My WP site is in a folder’Wp’
https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk/wp
2. I want my WP site to be in my main root folder so it comes up under:
https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk
3. I read that i could amend the index.php folder from my Wp and place it in my root folder.

However it doesn’t work.
I have spent a few hours pulling my hair out now and have a blank website.
Is there a quick fix!?

Whoops..have completely lost the link to my WP site now as changed the Settings in ‘General’ tab. Can I re correct this through FTP and changing file?

1. Download the wp-config.php file from your server.
2. Edit it and add the following lines at the end:

update_option('siteurl','https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk/wp');
update_option('home','https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk/wp');

3. Save the file and upload it back to your server.

After this, you should be back at your starting point and your site should be fully functional again at https://www.thebathstudio.co.uk/wp

4. Remove the two lines again from wp-config.php and upload back to your server.

5. Now that the mistakes are fixed, let’s change things the proper way, by following these instructions: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install

I get error saying there is syntax error on the code line: last line when I edit it in Dreamweaver. Have I missed something?

Having stupidly changed the settings in my General Tab, in frustraion, lost the website though have retreived something but without it being styled.

Also I cannot log in to WP
I did backup all my files on FTP but NOT my database .
A mess…

What if is was to FTP all my back over? Would I restore everything and regain access or have things been changed on my database elsewhere?

Maybe i should just reinstall WP and start over…may be easier!

Managed to get site back by editing Funtions.php file in Theme folder according to this.

Thanks for getting back. I have managed to retreive the site and need to try again to move it to the main domain again. Have become preoccupied with more pressing stuff but will try again later. Thanks

Got to look at this again but reading things that scare me about losing pages and data from your site when moving it over-need to back up database etc. Should I be so concerned?
