install wordpress local – disadvantages?

    like the title says, are there any disadvantages to installing wordpress local? with bitnami or mamp?
    like, are the image map paths ok, or do you manually have to edit them all? cause they are on another server so the file paths change.
    if there are problems, is there a workaround?
    what is your experience? please let me know.

    Are you talking about installing WP locally? Or moving an exiting site to a local install?

    thank you for your quick reply!
    imagine this:, i install wordpress local with bitnami. then off course i add images to the site. the file path for this image will be set for the local installation. when i am finished with the site, and export the site, en import it on my server, will wordpress recognize the pictures? in other words, does the file location point to the right path?

    or am i thinking way to difficult?
    what i am trying to understand is, do you have to edit a lot after the import? or is everything like it was on your local installation?

    ok so you have to manually update all the locations?
    is there some kind of a program or plugin that can ” batch” action that? instead of changing it one by one.
    imagine having 200 pictures and 50 links on you site. how would you solve that easy?
