I followed the tutorial guide to install WP 2.8 locally on my mac, using server MAMP. But experiencing problem when runing install.php.

After copying “https://localhost:8888/mysite/wp-admin/install.php” into my browser, nothing happened but a blank white page.

Tried couple of times,it’s all the same.when I change the address to “https://localhost:8889/mysite/wp-admin/install.php”,it asked me to save the install file. I did, but when open it,Adobe GoLive launched with these random codes “4???
    5.0.41?)???@uQsmJjU?,¢??????????????Nc,L{J=1{=\7????Bad handshake”
    ….I’m stuck….
I did extracted wordpress docs in the right folder(htdocs).
    Please help me,thanks.

Sounds like your MAMP install is configured incorrectly. You need it to run the PHP, not attempt to download it.
