I’m trying to reinstall Wordfence on my site. I’m getting a error message: “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.” I deleted the wordfence directory from plugins, as suggested support FAQs. However, I’m still getting the same message even though the directory appears to be gone in FTP. I’ve also tried clearing my cache.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @dyates63,

Did you try the solutions provided here or here?

    Cheers.

Thanks @dyates63 for getting in touch with us.

A customer wrote they had the same issue recently and Wordfence had either been installed previously, or suffered a failed/incomplete installation. They found /wp-content/plugins/wordfence already existed when viewing their filesystem on FTP or hosting file manager.

If it does for you too, try deleting the “wordfence” folder and its contents completely before trying again. Let me know if no folder was ever present, or if the issue persists despite checking solutions via @generosus links also.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
