• I get so many errors in the installation scripts that I can’t use them.
In the “install-config.php” script, the script simply fails becuase at line
121, there is a variable $Configure that has no value. (And I couldn’t find anything in the script to initialize it.) So PHP interpretation quits and the rest of the PHP code is dumped to the screen. I created the “wp-config.php” file manually, but the “install.php” script bombed and dumped the remainder of the PHP code to the screen.
Please check the install scripts for me. If they are right, then I’ll have to find another package, because I don’t have the time right now to fix them. But I liked this one ??
I downloaded from a one of the standard mirrors referenced by your download page.
The server is linux running the correct or better versions of MySQL and PHP.
    Thanks

  • I can’t answer your question for you, but might I suggest you give us a little more information on the environment/versions of stuff you’re using?
    Ie:
Are you using the nightly CVS? If so, which?
What version of PHP are you using? Apache?
Did you make sure to set all the configure variables in the right files?
Have you gone through the correct steps so far?
Answering stuff like that helps people narrow down your problem’s faster. And if you are using the nightly builds, odds are it’s just a temporary thing. Don’t lose hope, it is near.

The problem was resolved; the server wasn’t handling the php file correctly. Once that was fixed, manual editing of the configuration file before running the install script fixed things.
But I still got boatloads of “duplicate record” errors on the Step 3 phase of installation. But ….. it seems to work.

peb: I followed (and updated) the 5-minute-install guide with success.
However, I would suggest your try WP 1.02 instead. It’s not officially released yet, but if you think you can help testing it, it’s supposed to fix most (if not all) problems listed in the forums. Once you’ve installed it, go back to the thread I mention and comment it.
I installed it and have been using it for the past few days (ok, 24hrs) without problems.
