• I have a word press account hosted through my ISP (earthlink). I would like to change the name of the blog’s directory from wordpress (mydomain.com/wordpress) to blog (mydomain.com/blog). I changed the URL in the dashboard and then changed the folder name on the host site. When I did that, and tried to go back to my dashboard I got a 404 message: “Not Found
The requested URL /blog/wp-login.php was not found on this server.”

Now, I can’t get in to my blog at all. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong and how to do it correctly?

If the “URL” were in plural = URLs it would be the correct way to do it. You need to chaange both URI values in Options > General.

Now, the only way to check it: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

I did change both URLS. Sorry for the typo. How do I get into my phpadmin account?

That’s not really a WP issue – usually through the administration page of your hosting account.

OK, I figured out how to do it in the admin page of my hosting account (I think!).

It says https://mydomain.com/blog in both places, but when I hit “go” I get an error message that says:

#1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘% 2A FROM % 60wp_options % 60
    LIMIT 30, 30′ at line 1

OK, to answer my own question… Earthlink won’t let me do what I want. Their server is only set up to permit http: mydomain.com/wordpress. Grrr.
