  • steelcityjamz,

three quick things to check, first the host will almost always be localhost but in some cases it is not. In your control panel (where you setup the databases), check that it has not assigned a specific DB location such as “mysql.icdsoft.com” or similar.

If you’re sure that the db location is correct, check your username. Some hosting companies require you to append the username to your account name, this is very common for cPanel accounts.

for example, my account name is timu and my database is thisismyurl so my username is timu_thisismyurl, not thisismyurl.

Finally, check the permissions of your username on the database. For WP you’ll need to grant the user full admin rights to your database.

In general, when similar problems occur, it is better to contact the support of the hosting company. We respond to all requests usually within 4-6 minutes (there is a 15 minutes ticket response guarantee), so this is the best way to solve such an issue.

steelcityjamz contacted us shortly after this post, and had the matter resolved quickly. It turned out to be something completely different (not an issue with the WordPress installation itself).

    Best regards,
    ICDSoft Team
