Installation Godaddy / cpanel / Installatron/ WordPress / installed free OnePress Version: 2.3.4. To replace current 4.1 traditional site. Only theme installed, theme is active but when trying to customize another word press theme loads. Loaded theme has 3 item menu and header photo has laptop, coffee cup and plant in square pot. Updated all plugins and asks. PHP version: 7.4.30. Just finished around 15 minute call with GoDaddy technician. Confirms setup correct except can’t customize active theme. At my wits end. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Please provide a screenshot of your entire screen Customizer screen showing this “other theme” loaded, so we can have a better idea of what you’re dealing with. You need to show the entire WordPress screen: cropping to show only a tiny portion will not help to reveal any meaningful insights.

Upload your screenshot here https://snipboard.io/ and add the URL in your reply.

    Standing by.

That screenshot shows the same OnePress theme!

You somehow (and I can’t say how) imported the OnePress theme’s demo data.

Thank you for your quick response. The OnePrees theme demo date was loaded as a plugin. Deleted the plugin, still getting the demo date page. Signed out and rebooted …. still demo page. I am going to uninstall wordpress and try again with upload from zip file. Will advise results. Thank you so much for your help.

Found out how the demo plugin was loaded. When I activatedd the Onepress theme, a screne loaded with the first line Thank You, etc. The second line “Save time by import our demo data, your website will be set up and ready to customize in minutes” followed by a large “Import Demo Date” button. So how was I to know. I installed it. Just a little misleading.

Only have one theme loaded …. Onepress (active theme). When I try to customize, the Onepress demo page loads again. Only thing I changed / added was the Frontpage. Onepress advised page would not work without same. Any ideas? Thank you.

The OnePrees theme demo date was loaded as a plugin.

    No, not exactly.

Rather, the plugin imported the demo data to your site. So the complete demo site — posts, pages, navigation, etc are now published on your site permanently. You can check this by going to PAGES => ALL PAGES or POSTS => ALL POSTS. You can also check out your site at your-domain.org/temp/ to see the full site, with all the demo pages and posts.

Because the demo data is published as content on your site, removing the plugin will NOT remove the demo data.

Onepress (active theme). When I try to customize, the Onepress demo page loads again.

See above. The demo pages have been published on your site, so it is your site now.

If you don’t want this, you need to get rid of the demo data imported by the OnePress plugin. So your options are:

    1) Edit the demo pages to reflect your own content

    2) Delete the demo pages and create your own pages with your own content

    3) Reset WordPress, and re-install the OnePress theme… but, this time, take care not to import any demo data to your site. NOTE THAT WHEN YOU DO THIS, ANY CONTENT YOU HAD WILL BE COMPLETELY LOST SO ONLY DO THIS IF THIS WAS A FRESH SITE WITH NO CONTENT CREATED PRIOR TO INSTALLING ONEPRESS, OR IF YOU HAVE A BACKUP YOU CAN INSTALL.

Thank you for your response but I am really confused now. I uploaded this thene from the Onepress download page and followed their instructions for upload to WordPress. As directed, the upload was Onepress zip file. Starting to believe this is way over my head. Everyone advertises just one click away from creating your own WordPress. Maybe this is because I am creating through GoDaddy. I have uninstalled WordPress from my cPanel and went with the GoDaddy Managed WordPress. Had to spend $144 to get installed. Still having the same problems. About an hour ago I sent ticket to Onepress. They requested link and login to my Managed WordPress. Let’s see what happens. Will update you. Really appreciate all the time you have spent helping me. Thanks again.
