installation process too complex

I have to agree with idealmarketing – far too complex for the average webmaster.

The installation failed for me, despite following the instructions as explicitly as I could (the actual plugin activation was fine, but after importing the .sql file the settings page did not change as described to show it was installed).

Sorry Ian – I really wanted this to work, but it just isn’t ready for prime time, IMHO. Even if I had managed to get it functioning, I think automated update support for the actual schema.org table is essential, as other than that one would constantly need to go through myPHP – and I’m just not that sophisticated.

I’m rooting for you, and watching for further developments, but just can’t use this plugin in its current form.

Hi had problems with the install, too. I did get it working, here’s what I did:
– I found the wp-sfwp.sql.zip in the WordPress plugin folder on the server, located at( …public_html/wp-content/plugins/schema-for-wordpress/schema-data/wp_sfwp.sql.zip)
– Then I downloaded it to my computer
– I logged into my cPanel then into phpMyAdmin
– Opened my database (_wrd1) in my case
– I had to delete the current table wp_sfwp because I kept getting an error when I tried to import wp_sfwp.sql.zip
– I then used the import button and uploaded wp_sfwp.sql.zip
– Now everything is there

When I was testing the plugin I was worried if the icons that display in WordPress’s editor were actually converting into actual schema code, because it wasn’t showing it in the editor’s html. Anyway, I published the test post and looked at the source code. And yes, it displays just as it should! I’d advise going to schema.org to learn how to use the code. Thank you for this plugin…

Connie, your point to delete the current table saved me a ton of time and heartache. The import was successful after doing that simple extra step. Thank you!
