Installation “replaced” original blog

    I installed Woocommerce today through my host on an existing WordPress blog, but the installation “inserted” itself to become the blog root directory, between the domain URL and the original blog installation: original blog URL: blueplanetphoto.com/blog

    following Woocommerce installation: blueplanetphoto.com/blog/blog/
    where blueplanetphoto.com/blog/ is now the Woocommerce shopping cart site

    and /blog/blog/ is the original blog

    I’ve renamed /blog/blog/ to /blog/bpblog and updated page navigation links to retain visibility, but what I would prefer is:

    blueplanetphoto.com/blog (original blog)/shop (Woocommerce).

    Is there a way to switch these? I don’t know why Woocommerce pirated the original URL.

    I contacted my ISP, but they suggested I get help here.

    Hi there,

    I don’t quite understand the setup: Did you create a *new* WordPress instance inside a subdirectory? If not, can you share a bit more on how exactly WooCommerce was installed?

    No, and if that happened it wasn’t my intention. I already had a WordPress blog installed and installed Woocommerce through the admin portal (Add New plugin). What I expected was the Woocommerce installation as a subdirectory or separate directory of the blog. What I got was my existing blog shifted to a subdirectory of Woocommerce. Yes, I don’t understand how that occurred, either.

    In my website file manager, there is only one instance of a folder named “blog” which contains the WP files. I can’t find the Woocommerce install and there is no new folder named “bpblog”.

    After some more exploration I believe I’ve figured it out. The Woocommerce plugin installed a new “Homepage” which is the Storefront theme landing page, and directed to /domain.com/blog/ “replacing” the homepage of the original blog across the entire WordPress installation. I deleted the offending Homepage page and normalcy returned. There is also domain.com/shop/ where Woocommerce installed itself, and that is also now acting correctly.
