Installation screen automatically removes the "." (periods) in my hostname serve

  • Ok here’s a weird one.
    (I’m using “website” instead of my real website’s name as an example)

    My MySQL hostname is website.ipowermysql.com and when I tried to install wordpress, I got an error establishing database connection which says: we can’t contact the database server at ‘websiteipowermysqlcom’.
    It REMOVED the periods! I’ve tried several times and it keeps automatically removing the periods in between.

    Why is it doing this?
