• 6. Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.

A: MySQL database properly set up and functioning (no tables of course, but I figure that’s what the installer will do)

B: Files and directories unzipped OK

C: FTP to root directory looks OK.

D: Double checked db name and user name and password. At my hosting site, I notice that “MySQL running on localhost as myusername@localhost, so I figure local host is correct. Not sure where to look next.

Would appreciate a suggestion or two

  • Who is your host ?
What sort of webhosting control panel do they have ?

I figure local host is correct
If you spelled it like here – in 2 words – that might be the problem.

Network Solutions is my host. They have a php management system. localhost is treated as one word within the setup files. And thank you both for the quick replies
