Installation – WordPress Login wont show up

  • I’m a complete WordPress n00b and need a little help! I’ve been trying to work out why the WordPress Login page won’t show up on when typing in my IP add/domain to create my blog. So far I’ve done the following and need to know whether I’ve missed anything out during installation which is causing this:

    – Bought Linix hosting (powered by penguins)
    – Bought domain name (123 reg)
    – Changed DNS settings via PBP so domain name points at correct IP add.
    – Downloaded and unzipped WordPress files.
    – Imported WordPress files via FTP to public.html folder on my hosting.
    – Created MySQL database and edited wp-config file appropriately.

    And that’s how far I’ve got! I assumed that the WordPress login page would show up once I’d reached this point…

    Any help appreciated!

  • When did you register the domain name? Were you aware that it can take up to 72 hours for a new domain name to be ready to use?

    Registered the domain back in April and changed the DNS settings a couple of weeks ago – I think I’ve done it’s right as the Powered by Penguins index file shows up when I type in the web address.

    However when I’ve erased the index file and added the WordPress files to the public.html nothing shows up – I’m assuming I’ve just missed something simple out, I just cant figure out what :s

    @ jhonatanct you should open your own thread, even if you think this is the same problem, it likely isn’t, then you ned up hijacking the OPs thread.

    And I’m fairly new to all this, thanks for your help. I will open a new post. The problem is that I work all day I’ll be able to open it till later. .
