    hello and regards
please I have a problem, one week ago i decided to install google tag manager on my site,(using googlesitekit). before that, I was using google analytics on desktop and on amp version also.
after installing google tag manager on site (hopefully successfully) I deleted all the snippets outside the Sitekit plugin and kept the plugin in control only (before that, it was inserted through the theme menu option).
now I deleted all the snippets include the analytics in amp one also, only the site kit is working.
when starting the tag assistant tool for debugging im haveing these errors :
Multiple installations of Global site tag (gtag.js) detected
Multiple installations of Google Tag Manager detected
please check the screenshot threw this link:
    screen shot of error
also my second problem or question, after deleting the analytics tracking code from the desktop theme and amp version, and using the google tag manager i noticed a drop in analytics visitors numbers (heavy drop) on both universal analytics and G4. what I should do here ?? can I activate the tag manager in amp version or put the analytics tracking code in amp version back again or what the problem here is ??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for reaching out and providing insights of what was occurring. The “Multiple installations of Global site tag” reference can be disregarded, I’ve checked your site and everything is setup as it should be. This notice can appear as Site Kit also uses a gtag implementation to setup Analytics within the plugin. From talking to the team on this previously I believe there are changes coming to the Tag Assistance Chrome extension that provide improved insights to account for such setups.

also my second problem or question, after deleting the analytics tracking code from the desktop theme and amp version, and using the google tag manager i noticed a drop in analytics visitors numbers (heavy drop) on both universal analytics and G4. what I should do here ??

Good question. Unfortunately Google Analytics 4 is not fully supported for AMP URLs just yet, if you’re checking your GA4 statistics this may be the cause. I didn’t notice any Analytics tracking code on your AMP URLs. The best approach for the moment may be to remove any Analytics tag within your Google Tag Manager account and then allowing Site Kit to insert Analytics code on your site by navigating to Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > Analytics (After removing any Analytics tag within Google Tag manager.

Performing the above will ensure you’re using a Site Kit places Universal (not GA4) tag on both your AMP and non AMP URLs. Let me know if you need any assistance on this.

    thanks for your fast reply

just to make sure, as I understand I must now remove both analytics tags from google tag manager, and allow the site kit plugin to paste the tracking codes, and then try it.
please note that at the AMP> COSTUMIZE> ANALYTICS CODE> IS Removed now.

if you’re checking your GA4 statistics this may be the cause

no not only the G4 statics, both universal and g4 went down heavily.

    regards
    thanks in advance

If you’re looking to keep track of your AMP URLs along with using the same Analytics property for you non AMP URLs then yes, the steps you’ve outlined are correct.

You can keep track of AMP and GA4 support here. At present you can remove any Analytics tag within Tag Manager and implement Analytics via Site Kit, just ensure you have the toggle to allow Site Kit insert your Analytics snippet on.

The above will ensure you’re using the same Universal Analytics property for both your AMP and non AMP URLs, which shouldn’t result in any incorrect reporting.

no not only the G4 statics, both universal and g4 went down heavily.

Interesting, depending on how you’ve setup GA4 with a Universal Tracking snippet I suspect it’s possible to encounter mixed reporting, in particular when having AMP versions of your content. There is an option to create both a GA4 and associated Universal type property when setting up Analytics at analytics.google.com.

Hello Again And thanks for your help
I did as you told me exactly (delete both tags from google tag manager and let the Sitekit plugin control the analytics) but as I think things are still the same !!
the same situation from tag assistant, second screen shot

also, inside the analytics situation still, the same things (mobile visitors not counted) and there is a big difference between Google search console numbers and analytics.

I want to tell you what I feel, I think that I must insert the analytics code inside the amp theme again !! maybe ?? please check this screen shot: amp theme

one last thing, as the speed test shows, the situation when both analytics codes (universal and G4) with the tag manager was a little faster (as the google speed tool shows). so finally what you think about it all ?? shall I delete the G4 ??

thanks in advance and best regards

Thanks for the update. In relation to the Tag Manager Chrome extension even if you’ve added Analytics via Site Kit and then Tag Manager via Site Kit (or manually / via another plugin) at present you’ll encounter the “Multiple instances of gtag.js” notices. I believe there are changes to this coming, although I can confirm there is no issue with your setup.

The “Multiple instances of Tag Manager” is unusual, although I don’t encounter this when checking your site at present using the same extension. It may be a Siteground inserted snippet, possibly also as a logged in user.

Note also the opt out message you encounter is normal if you’ve applied the default Site Kit Analytics module settings (which doesn’t count logged in users). You’ll notice this opt out code snippet when checking your source code while logged in.

I want to tell you what I feel, I think that I must insert the analytics code inside the amp theme again !! maybe ?? please check this screen shot: amp theme

Yes, you are correct, it looks like your theme features it’s own AMP plugin. Please ensure your insert the same Universal Analytics tracking code into this box you highlighted. My apologies for this, we recommend using Site Kit with the official AMP plugin, although with the plugin you’re currently using from further inspection Site Kit doesn’t insert the snippet into your AMP URLs.

one last thing, as the speed test shows, the situation when both analytics codes (universal and G4) with the tag manager was a little faster (as the google speed tool shows). so finally what you think about it all ?? shall I delete the G4 ??

That’s good to know. If you’re finding good results by all means I would recommend using associated Analytics snippets with both variations (Universal and GA4). Just be mindful that GA4 isn’t fully supported in AMP URLs or Site Kit just yet, but it looks like you’ve managed to setup everything successfully anyway in your non AMP URLs.

Let me know if you’d like me to check your setup once more after you’ve added your Universal Analytics property ID into your AMP URLs.

    Hello James:

I hope you are doing well.
I’m sorry for my late reply, but I was testing things to make sure of the answer.
as I think now everything is back to the normal situation, and numbers between search console and analytics almost the same screen shot, just still the speed thing, I still notice that with google tag manager in the control page speed was a little bit faster.

Anyway, I appreciate it if you take another close look at the situation now.
    thanks in advance
    best regards

    Hi there,

Glad to hear you’ve determined things look to be back to normal from testing our various configurations.

In relation to any performance differences there can be a variety of reasons why you may be encounter differing results, including local network availability, client hardware availability, resource contention and more. Whether you implement the different Google services manually or via Site Kit there should be no differences, with Site Kit using a basic snippet for each service similar to the snippets advised by each product if setting up manually.

I’ve also tested your site, both AMP and non AMP and your setup seems fine, with the same Analytics account ID references in both, and your AMP URLs performing faster than your non AMP, and that’s even before your site is served from AMP cache which brings further improvements.

Thanks for using Site Kit. If you have a moment free please share your plugin feedback, we’d love to hear how you’re finding integration the different Google services with your AMP site.
