Very new to this. I just installed wordpress manually using ftp, but I’m getting a 404 error when trying to log in through wp-login.php or wp-admin. The site is wp.mypeacekids.org.

I’m at a loss even after searching for possible solutions. Any suggestions? Don’t know if I can fix on my end or if I need to go back to my host provider to edit database settings or something else.

Let me know what info I can provide that could help troubleshoot.

No luck with any of those solutions.

Enable Cookies – cleared cookies and cache, tried different browsers.
    WordPress MultiSite Network – n/a
Disable Plugins – didn’t help. this is a fresh install anyway.
Deactivate Theme – its already using twentytwelve
New Login File – didn’t work.
    Edit Users Table – tried
    Password Problems – tried
Site URL Redirecting – url value is correct
Subdomains or Subdirectories – there is no subdomain line in wp-config file?
    Secure HTTPS – n/a
    Headers Already Sent – n/a
    Check Your URL Options
Check your Firewall – no firewall

Here is the server setup info if this helps?? Any suggestions much appreciated.

may be server not well start all service. try to restart all service.

Just to clarify, do you get the 404 when you click on the link to login, or once you’ve filled in your credentials and clicked submit?

I looked at your site, played with the login link (which loads) and tried logging in with a bogus account to see if I could get it to serve a 404 error, and it didn’t.

If you’re getting a 404 *after* filling in the form and hitting submit, can you share the URL in the address bar on that page?

It’s after I login and hit submit. The URL doesn’t change from https://wp.mypeacekids.org/wp-login.php

Aside from the numerous entries I probably just caused, do your webserver error logs show anything interesting, approximate to time you tried to login?

Just to add: your /wp-admin/ directory is *not* properly protected. I’m able to access files in that directory, as well as the css and js directories.

You might want to run through the install instructions again to make sure you didn’t miss a step.
