I’ve now tried adding this plugin at two separate sites. I’ve run the installation wizard and I’ve also tried adjusting settings “by hand.” I’ve tried setting specific pages for AMP and I’ve tried setting (virtually) all pages for AMP. I can visit AMP and see the AMP version, but when I try loading the site on my phone, I’m still taken to the desktop site on Chrome and Firefox, although on Firefox an option to view the AMP site is offered.

I’ve cleared caches – site, browser, CDN – and have added the W3 Total Cache extension at the site that’s on W3 TC. Is there something I’m missing in the basic setup or do I have some kind of wrong expectation. With “Home Page” on, shouldn’t the AMP version of the home page automatically load on mobile devices (or, for that matter, mobile user agents in Chrome inspector)?

    Hi @ck-macleod,

Actually, Google takes some time to index and crawl the AMP pages and after that, it will show on the mobile SERP. However, you want to show the AMP pages on mobile, you can enable the ‘mobile redirection’ option from the Advanced settings of AMP panel.

    Hope it helps.

Still not sure I entirely understand, but it appears to me – and please correct me if I’m wrong – that in order to get the site to load the AMP version for mobile users, I need to enable redirection. On the other hand, if that’s the case, the question would be why the setting is under “Advance[d] Settings.” What other purposes

It looks like you’ve put a a very substantial amount of work into the plugin. In addition to explaining to me what I (or my clients) should expect to see after installing and configuring it, I hope you’ll take this question as a humble suggestion that you make the point of the exercise – the expected visible outcomes – more clear from the very top to other users.

    Hi @ck-macleod,

After set up and configuration the plugin, for checking purpose, you can add manually /amp at the end of the URL.

And regarding the ‘mobile redirection’ option:

Actually, when you’re visiting your website directly putting the URL in mobile, it will take you to non-amp version but when you visit via SERP it will take you to amp version. And some of our users don’t want to show the non-amp version to mobile users and that case we’ve built this redirection option. Hope you understand the use case of that option.

However, I’ll discuss this with my team to add this option in the general tab.

    Thank you.

Thanks for your patient responses. I won’t repeat what I’ve already said here, and, apologies, at another thread and even in a support request at your home site. Good luck with your plugin and the rest of your work. If you want to follow up on “confused users feeling frustrated and stupid” issues, I’ll be happy to help out in the future.
