Installed in wrong place, uninstal and start again?

  • Hi, I am new at WordPress and have installed it in the root directory of my website instead of in a /blog. Do I need to uninstall and redo (and if so how do I uninstall it please). Or is there another solution.

  • 1. admin > Settings > General
    2. Change the two URL values to the desired location (add /blog to the URLs)
    3. Save and disregard the error message!
    4. Don’t try to see your blog in a browser!
    5. Via FTP move all the WordPress (WP) files and folders into the /blog folder (create it first, of course)
    6. Done.

    Hi, and bless you for responding so quickly.
    I have done all this, but now cannot access my admin. Should I have done anything else, or have I stumbled somewhere do you think?

    Be more specific. Your admin now should be at
    example.com/blog/wp-admin

    Its not there. The message I get is as follows. I have check the /blog file in the cpanel and the wp-admin file is there.

    The requested URL /blog/wp-admin was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Unless you have an brainwave, how can I just uninstall and start over?

    Delete all the WP files and drop the WP tables in the database. Then upload everything to the directory “blog” and go to https://www.yourdomain.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php to install.
