Thank you for supporting the plugin!

The plugin adds an HTTP header to your site, which is different to a meta tag that appears in your HTML.

To check that the header is appearing, you can use a tool such as this one, as mentioned in the installation steps: https://tools.seobook.com/server-header-checker/

    Hope that helps!

Thanks! It indeed works. But maybe you should include this information in the description instead. I arrived from the GNU Terry Pratchett website where among other things they suggest inserting a meta tag into the pages, so I assumed this plugin did the same.

    Great idea btw!

I installed the plugin on our site: https://midamericon2.org/

But when I used the tools to check if it is appearing, it doesn’t show up. Can you help me troubleshoot this?

@grgbyny I’ve added the instructions to the description now too. Thanks for the note.

@midamericon2 It looks like you’re using WP Super Cache. Please can you delete the cache by going to Tools > WP Super Cache > Contents and clicking the “Delete Cache” button: https://d.pr/i/XKol

Then try the check at https://tools.seobook.com/server-header-checker/ again. If you need more help with this, please could you open a new thread specific to your issue? This thread has been marked resolved. Thanks!

@midamericon2 It looks as if static page caching plugins may prevent the headers from being sent out.

For now, you may need to use one of the other methods instead of using this plugin if you’d like to add the X-Clacks-Overhead header and still use caching plugin. Sorry about that – it’s to do with how caching plugins work.

Thank you! Clearing the cache worked!

Almost. It appears to “stick” only after immediately clearing the cache. I’ll look into thanks alternates. Thanks!
