• turned a friend on to WordPress … so, trying to help them i installed WordPress 1.2 here…
all went well, but now something weird… (can’t find something like this in the search of forums … perhaps i’m not searching for the right thing)
it is a BBQ site, so don’t get turned off by the directory name ??
    i installed it here: https://lostmountainbbq.com/samsbutt/
now, when i navigate to that directory with Firefox and IE i get a listing of the directory … if I add the index.php all is well …
also, when I click on ‘login’ or ‘register’ it takes me to the directories … list of files … not to the file
any help? is this a CHMOD thing?
    thanks

Thanks for checking … Well, I cleared the cache and rebooted … but it still happens for me. Don’t know what the deal is…

Is ‘index.php’ recognised by the host as an index ? It could be it’s looking only for index.html but allowing you to see a full file listing as well ? (The latter not being that good)

Your host needs to be set up to use index.php as a directory index. In Apache you can add this to your .htaccess file:
    DirectoryIndex index.html
    More info:
    https://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_dir.html
If this doesn’t make sense to you, bug your host.
