Installing a second blog on the same domain

  • If I want a second WP blog on the same domain that uses the same custom template and plugins…

    Can I just duplicate the entire blog directory to a new directory and manually delete posts from the new blog?

    Or do I have to manually install a second copy of WordPress to the directory where I want the second blog?

  • You want to do a second install – WordPress stores data in a Database and you need to set up the second database. There are some config stuff that also gets done with a new install – such as where the second blog is located etc.

    Then just move a copy of your customized theme to the second site and then install the same Plug-in’s you have on the first site.

    Is there a way to get those settings from the admin control panel?
    I didn’t do the initial install of this blog, so finding things out like the path to mysql may be a PITA.
